Filtering Best Practices

Workflow Filters

Use filters to support your workflow:

  1. Start of day: Filter by "Needs Translation" to see what needs work
  2. Before pushing: Filter by "Ready to Push" to find translations to publish
  3. After updates: Filter by "Needs Sync" to see what changed
  4. Language focus: Filter by missing language to focus on one language

Efficiency Tips

  1. Save common filters: Use URL parameters to bookmark common filter combinations
  2. Combine filters: Use multiple filters together for precise results
  3. Clear when done: Reset filters when switching tasks
  4. Use search first: Search for specific articles, then filter if needed

URL Parameters

Filters are saved in the URL, so you can:

  • Bookmark filtered views
  • Share links to specific filtered lists
  • Refresh the page without losing filters

The URL updates automatically as you change filters.

Pagination

When you have many articles:

  • Results are paginated (typically 20 per page)
  • Use pagination controls to navigate
  • Filters apply across all pages
  • Search results may show all matches on one page if there are few results

Advanced Filtering

Filter Combinations

Some useful filter combinations:

Find work to do:

  • Status: "Needs Translation" + Missing Language: [Your target language]

Find ready to publish:

  • Status: "Ready to Push" + Available Language: [Your target language]

Find sync issues:

  • Status: "Needs Sync" or "Failed"

Find specific content:

  • Search: [Keyword] + Status: [Any status]

Filtering from Coverage Cards

You can also filter from the language coverage section:

  1. Go to the dashboard
  2. Click on a language coverage card
  3. You'll be taken to the Articles page with that language filter applied
  4. This shows articles missing translations in that language

This is a quick way to find articles that need translation for a specific language.

Best Practices

  1. Use filters regularly: Filter by status to focus on what needs attention
  2. Combine with search: Use search and filters together for precise results
  3. Clear when switching tasks: Reset filters when moving to different work
  4. Bookmark common views: Save URL parameters for frequently used filters
  5. Use language filters: Filter by missing languages to find translation work
